Myofunctional therapy retrains the muscles of the face, mouth, and airway behind patterns like tongue thrust, chronic mouth breathing, and TMJ tension. It remains a primary service line at Schie Health, often coordinated alongside lactation, speech, and bodywork care for a whole-airway approach.
Infants (0–12 months)
Support for tongue-tie-related feeding difficulty and suck-swallow-breathe coordination, often alongside lactation care.
Children (1–12 years)
Tongue thrust, chronic mouth breathing, prolonged thumb/finger sucking habits, and myofunctional patterns that affect speech clarity or orthodontic development.
Adolescents (13–17 years)
Coordination with orthodontic treatment, airway-focused habit correction, and early TMJ discomfort.
Adults (18+)
TMJ and jaw pain, chronic mouth breathing, sleep-disordered breathing support, and myofunctional coordination alongside orthodontic or orthognathic treatment.
